Chelsea Ingram

A Brisbane native based in Brooklyn, Chelsea is an award-winning slam poet, playwright, and filmmaker whose work centers on raw, character-driven stories with a sharp emotional edge. Her debut play Keep Calling played to sold-out audiences at the Sydney and New York Fringe Festivals and was awarded The Sydney Morning Herald’s Critic’s Pick. She is a graduate of the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute conservatory program.

As a filmmaker, Chelsea has received VicScreen’s Best Director: Australian Short Award at the Melbourne Queer Film Festival and was a finalist for the 2025 NewFest New Voices Filmmaker Grant. Her short film Laterz won Best Australian Comedy at Flickerfest 2026.

Chelsea is currently editing her latest short film, Shove It, and continues to develop narrative work across short and feature formats, often exploring themes of family, queer identity, power, neglect, and belonging through intimate, lived-in storytelling.

At Woodward, Chelsea will be developing her feature film Cane Toad.
