Honesty Taszhé

Honesty is an award-winning writer-director hailing from Kansas City. Her work often reimagines stories that center the intersectional experiences of Black Midwestern life. Many of her previous films explore characters' complex evolution as they navigate mental and physical woes when facing loss of life, love, and opportunity across Missouri's rich landscape.

Honesty was awarded the 2024 Best Heartland Short at the Kansas City International Film Festival and the 2024 Best Short at the International Black and Diversity Film Festival in Ontario for her narrative, Jen. Her romantic drama Spark was a Best Student Short Film Nominee at the Detroit Black Film Festival, and her comedic web series Kickback Chronicles was an Official Selection at the Denton Film Festival in 2024.

Previously, Honesty worked in archival and development, collaborating with documentary production companies such as Netflix, Story Syndicate, Marshall Curry Productions, and Mighty Entertainment. She currently serves as an Associate Producer at Soledad O'Brien Productions, producing branded and documentary projects for film and television.

As a 2025 Industry Standard and Netflix Experience resident, Honesty holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing from Missouri State University. She was recently selected as a 2026 Black Boy Writes and Black Girl Writes Mentorship Initiative Quarterfinalist and a 2026 Antigravity Academy Screenwriters’ Camp Quarterfinalist.

At Woodward, Honesty will be producing her upcoming dramatic coming of age short film and developing her feature film directorial debut.
