Justice Jamal Jones

Justice is a filmmaker, performer, and cultural alchemist based in New York. Rooted in the cosmologies of the African Diaspora, they use cinema as ritual and performance as invocation, crafting stories that honor the body as an archive and film as a vessel for ancestral memory.

A 2021 Sundance Ignite Fellow, 2025 New Dance Alliance Resident, and 2025 Explorers Club inductee, Jones crosses, blends, and blurs artistic disciplines and cultural knowledge systems to develop a rounded creative and cultural understanding.

At Woodward, Justice will be developing a film inspired by Romaine-la-Prophétesse, the gender-shifting revolutionary leader of the Haitian Revolution.
