Micheli Oliver

Micheli is a multimedia artist who works as a photographer, writer, illustrator and filmmaker. She's created visual stories for outdoor brands like Patagonia and REI, and her writing has also appeared in Outside Magazine and Women's Running. She's currently working on a fantasy novel and has been building imaginary worlds since she first discovered fantasy books as a kid.

Micheli studied geography, focusing on Indigenous fire management and environmental justice, which influences both her documentary work and her fiction writing. Based in Brooklyn, she splits her time between the camera and the page, always searching for stories that reveal how people connect to the places around them, whether those places are real or imagined.

At Woodward, Micheli will be working on her fantasy novel, A Fire in the Sea, weaving together elemental magic, environmental themes, and the landscapes that shape both fictional worlds and our own.
