Apolline Guillerot-Malick
Apolline is a French documentary photographer with a background in art history and journalism. In 2022, she moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she spent two years photographing prison environments, Indigenous struggles, and the effects of global warming in the Amazon. She relocated to New York in 2024 and was awarded a MacDowell Fellowship in 2025.
Her work has appeared in U.S. publications including The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and Sojourners, as well as in international outlets such as The Guardian, Le Monde, Le Parisien, Le Figaro, and Al Jazeera.
At Woodward, she will be doing some research for several upcoming documentary projects, including a film on a guardless prison in Brazil.
