Malavika Kannan

Malavika is a novelist and essayist writing about identity, kinship, and community for Gen Z women. Her debut novel, Unprecedented Times, is forthcoming from Holt on August 18,. Her writing appears in The Nation, Washington Post, Autostraddle, Mixed Feelings, and elsewhere, and she’s an advice columnist at Teen Vogue. When not writing she moonlights as a gay socialite and hosts a sapphic mutual aid supper club.

At Woodward, she will work on Rage Bait, a debut collection of essays on Gen Z coming-of-age, and coming-of-rage, in the heart of American empire, forthcoming from Atria/Simon & Schuster in 2028.
