Yaari Nadav Tal
Yaari Nadav Tal is a Queens-born screenwriter, director, and composer. He was born and raised in Queens, NY.
Yaari holds an MFA in Film from the City College of New York, where he received the 2021 Bert Saperstein Communications Scholarship. He has lived many lives: he holds a B.A. in Political Science from George Washington University, with minors in Jazz Studies and History. He worked in music publishing for two years, becoming obsessed with music on film. After this, he worked as a service coordinator at a non-profit for people with mental health struggles. He also performed standup and improv comedy for years and was profiled in Vulture Magazine.
Yaari makes films that explore the relationship between human connection and alienation. He believes the futile attempts to fulfill the desire to be understood – through language, image, sound – are at the very essence of humanity.
Yaari has written and directed several short films that have screened at film festivals across the US.
At Woodward, Yaari will be writing a feature film about a kosher butcher in Williamsburg, Brooklyn who becomes disillusioned with his profession.
